How to Get ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity to Recommend Your Website in 2026

Imagine a potential customer asking:

What are the best software development companies in Nigeria?

Or:

Recommend a good travel agency for Umrah packages.

Or:

What is the best project management software for small businesses?

Increasingly, people are no longer opening Google first.

They're asking ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, and other AI assistants.

The question is:

When AI answers these questions, does it mention your business or your competitors?

Most website owners are still fighting for traditional SEO rankings while a new opportunity is emerging: getting cited, referenced, and recommended directly by AI systems.

This new discipline is often called:

• Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
• AI Search Optimization

Businesses that become visible to AI will gain a significant advantage over those that don't.

In this guide, you'll learn exactly how AI systems discover websites, how they decide which sources to trust, and how to increase your chances of being referenced in AI-generated answers.

Why AI Mentions Matter More Than Ever

Traditional SEO worked like this:

Google Search ↓ User clicks your website ↓ You get traffic

AI search increasingly works like this:

When AI consistently references your company, you gain:

• Highly qualified leads
• Brand authority
• Increased trust
• More website visits
• More conversions
• Competitive advantage

Many businesses still haven't adapted to this shift.
